Inktober 2021 #10 – Pick
I had no idea what I was going to do for pick. This might be a bit of a stretch but just roll with it. I have a particular memory of going to the auction with my dad so I’m squeezing it in here because he let me pick whatever I wanted and we would bid on it. He said as long as it didn’t go too high, he would buy it for me.
I was pretty young. I don’t remember how old. I don’t even know where we were to tell you what auction house it was. It was the first and only auction I went to until I became an adult. It was so strange to me and there was a lot of people. I didn’t understand what was going on. We sat down and the auction started and that guy started talking faster than I could even keep up with! I thought…are you for real? Are you saying real words?! I was amazed. Then people started raising their arms back and forth. My dad explained to me what bidding was, then I was really paranoid to lift my arms even a little bit. I asked my dad if it was okay to scratch my nose or if the guy would think I was bidding. He assured me it was okay to scratch my nose.
It was a fun experience being there and watching everything happen. Every time my dad won a bid, they would carry the item to us and I was so excited to look at it up close. I don’t remember much of what was bought. The only thing I remember was this really neat zebra statue my dad got me. Other than that, I mostly remember how much fun I had with my dad.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed today’s sketch. Check back later to see the next Inktober prompt, Sour.
Take care, free spirits!
