• It’s a Digital Age!

I’ve been throwing around the idea of trying my hand at some digital art. I’ve never really dabbled with it much more than when I was in high school. That was fifteen years ago so a lot has changed in the technological department.Hard as it is to believe, I had never drawn on a device with a stylus and I wanted to try it. I’ve also been wanting to start creating some mandalas so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to tackle both!

With each one, I do a little better and learn something new about the drawing app I am using. I settled for Autodesk Sketchbook until my art can pay for Adobe Illustrator, which would be my preferred program. I just finished the mandala picture below and have added it to my online shop! I call it “Bluedana” and I had a lot of fun creating it!

I’m learning so much, rapidly. I can’t wait to see where my work will be in even a few weeks! Digital art is so much fun I know I haven’t even scratched the surface yet. I use to swear against it for the longest time. That was before I knew what I could do with it! I use to think it was “cheating” but it really isn’t. It just streamlines the entire process. This makes everything so much faster so you can get even more art done. Plus, you aren’t using any materials so you don’t have to dish out money for supplies. As long as you have a good device and a decent stylus, you’re all set! By the way, I drew all of these from my phone. I found an app that works for my laptop and my phone so I can draw no matter where I am!

I hope you enjoyed my work. There is a lot more where that came from. What are your thoughts on digital art and illustration? Leave your story in the comments below! Thanks for stopping by this week.

    Happy Autumn, free spirits!

  • Horse of a Different Color

I’ve had some of these beauties hiding in a folder on my computer and decided it was time to share them with the world! I have literally gone horse crazy with my Horse Totem drawing (originally done in colored pencil). I’ve been wanting to get better with my photoshop skills and in the near future would like to get a digital drawing tablet. Yes, the digital age has finally grabbed me. So here are some designs I’ve created for horses of a different color! Which one is your favorite?

  • Animal Patterns

I’ve been having some fun in photoshop lately. I like to make patterns and come up with cool designs using my traditional drawings. It opens a whole new world of creativity! Here are some of my patterns I’ve created so far.

It’s really cool watching them unfold and seeing what comes from the original drawing. They also look awesome on my products @Redbubble. I can’t wait to see what other designs I can come up with! I am currently working on horse for my next piece! I’m really excited to share it! Check back later this week to see my work in progress post.

Which pattern did you like best? Anything you hope to see in the future? Leave a comment below! I’d love to hear from you! Thanks for stopping by!

  • Manatee Totem in the Shop!

Good morning art lovers! I am super excited to announce that my Manatee Totem is now in the shop! I have so much fun designing these products and it adds a little twist to my drawings. I design the backgrounds on photoshop and they really add to the image! I get to play around with so many different colors and it gives me ideas on how I can make my drawings better as well. I use to be strictly a graphite pencil artist but I’ve realized that has changed, a lot! Now I use ink pens, colored pencils, art markers and now photoshop! I’d say I’m more of a mixed media artist now. But don’t worry, I still have a lot of pencil ideas a’brewin! I want to get back into my “Eye” series. I had a lot of fun doing them and people seem to love them! My totem animals just kind of took over! That’s ok, though. The totem animals will be an on-going thing. They will never end, not until I have drawn a totem for every animal in existence. I’m not sure if that is possible in a single lifetime but I will certainly try! Anyways, now I’m rambling.

Here are some of my favorite Manatee products but there are so many to choose from! You can see all the products available in my shops at

    Redbubble & Society6

There are also prints (framed and canvas as well), yoga mats, coasters, notebooks and journals, tapestries, serving trays, keepsake boxes and so much more! Any and all sales are greatly appreciated and will help me grow into a full time artist…which means more and better art!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you find something you like!

    Happy shopping, free spirits!

  • We Survived Another Holiday!

It’s always weird when Christmas ends. You spend so much time preparing and leading up to it. There is the cleaning, cooking and baking, shopping, wrapping, decorating, visiting…the list goes on and on. Then, when the day finally comes, it’s over in the blink of an eye. Right back to your regular day to day. It’s like your exerting as much Christmas spirit as you possibly can and then it just….stops. What do you do when you still feel that charge though?

Use it towards the new year, perhaps? That is also an exciting time. The end of one chapter, the start of the next. What will this new story reveal? It’s ultimately up to you. Yea, there might be some surprises the universe will throw in but it’s your choice as to what path you will go down. I currently enjoy the trail I have been following so I think I will continue on the path I’m on. It feels amazing when I am working on my art. Everything in my personal life if finally settling into place as well. The word “feel” keeps ringing in my head. Everything just feels relaxed, harmonious, like everything is vibrating on the proper frequency. It’s comfortable, not like I want to melt into the couch. Comfortable as in, I have found myself. I’m comfortable in my skin. I feel like I’m doing what I’m suppose to. I haven’t felt this way in a long time. It’s awesome and I’m excited to use this power to soar through 2019!

My goal for 2019 is to continue working on my art so that I can become a fulltime artist. This is the most important task for me this year and I’ve never been more driven than I am right now! Thank you to everyone who has helped me this far and who continue to support me in achieving my goal! It means the world to me!

What was your favorite holiday activity? What do you want to achieve in the new year? Share your story in the comments below. I wish good vibes and high energy to everyone for the new year! Thanks for swinging by!

    Take care, free spirits!

  • #9 – Surly Snake – 8.16.18

    Snake

This guy slithered out of the garden we were weeding today. He was not happy to be caught as he knotted up and tried to bite. We quickly let him go about his day.
