Here’s a few pictures I’ve taken with my phone since we have arrived. It’s been a chill visit so far. We went for a nice bike ride, visited my brother and his family and ate dinner at Chipotle’s. I have more pictures on my Nikon but I won’t be able to share those until after I get back.
There were a lot of firsts when we arrived in New York City. To reach our hotel, we had to ride the subway and then walk a few blocks. I had never ridden the subway before. It is crazy how fast they are! There was a lot to take in while we headed to our hotel. I wanted to take so many pictures, I didn’t know where to begin! I knew once we checked in and got out to really explore, I would have plenty to photograph! These are the first few photos I took while we made our way to the hotel.
I have so many photos to share and go through from my New York City trip that I’m going to break it up into groups. The first group is “The Train Ride”. It was about a two hour ride but it didn’t feel like it on the way there. It was my first time on a train so it was a fun experience. The scenery was beautiful and there was a lot of interesting things to see while passing by. There were some spots that were so tight, the rock must have been carved out just for the track. It seemed to be only inches away from the side of the train when passing by! The mountains where so immense in the background, they were nice to admire. I saw a lot of birds crossing the river as well. Many of them were great blue herons! Their wingspan is impressive. Unfortunately, the train was moving too fast for me to get clear pictures, so none of the bird photos turned out well. Plus there was the headache of the foreground trees jumping right in front of my shot at the last minute! Darn jumping trees! 😛 I did manage to get a few nice shots though. Enjoy!
We’re having a blast in Ohio. My parents, son and I took the boat out on Lake Erie this past Wednesday. We caught a bunch of perch and fried them up the next day for a fish fry with my brother’s family. The kids went swimming in the pool and we hung out with the horses for a bit.
Today we are exploring Grand Rapids, OH and later a bike ride at Oak Openings Nature preserve in Swanton, OH.
Then, tomorrow we begin the long drive home. I have many photos to go through and share, to include my daily photos. I’ll be working diligently when I get back to get all these photos posted! I can also get back on track with my totem animal drawings and their symbolism. I have a few photos of the wildlife in the area as well, mostly aviary. Perhaps one of them will inspire my next piece.
Check in next week to see the adventures!
Until next time,

3/22/18, Megtography #12 – Herkimer – I really need to plan a trip! I live in New York and I’ve never mined my own Herkimer diamonds! Luckily my grandma gave me some to hold me over.
Did someone say party?
My best friend did so we traveled to Put in Bay, Ohio for a combined bachelor/bachelorette party! A group of us met at Miller Ferry and rode the ferry to the island. It was about a twenty minute ride and the weather was beautiful!
Once we arrived, we took a taxi to the Island Club where we all pitched in to get a cabin for the weekend. The cabin was spacious and had two decks with picnic tables. Even though it was Memorial Day weekend and many of the cabins were occupied, we were nicely tucked into the woods and still felt a sense of privacy.
As with most bachelor/ette parties, we hit the bars! There were many to choose from of course. Mojito Bay had a great atmosphere. It featured an outdoor tiki hut for a bar and sand as the floor to give it a beach setting. To top it off, they served drinks in coconuts! They were tasty! Another great spot was The Beer Barrel Saloon featuring the longest bar in the world. It truly was the longest bar I had ever seen. They also had a stage with a live band and an outdoor area with umbrella tables.
One needs more than just alcohol to survive. Luckily, there were plenty of restaurants to choose from as well. We stopped at Frosty’s for breakfast. I ordered some of the best french toast I have ever had with a side of sausage links. The coffee was great too!
There was so much more that I didn’t have a chance to check out such as a nature preserve, a cave, and a butterfly house. So much to see, so little time!
It was a great time and I am overjoyed for my BFF and her fiance! Next time I see them, they will be Mr. and Mrs. It’s about time! Love ya guys!
Have you ever partied down in Put in Bay? If you remember it, share your story in the comments below! Thanks for stopping by this week.

…to my hometown in Ohio. It’s been about a year since I’ve been back and I’m excited to see my family again! My son and I are traveling by car so we have a long road ahead of us. We’re staying for about a weeks time and have many adventures coming our way. I can’t wait to share them with you! I figured I could share some photos I’ve taken in the past in Ohio.
