Help Me Help Pets!

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, pets are being abandoned all over the world due to city-wide evacuations and/or misguided fears that animals can carry the virus. It is heart breaking to hear that many are left on the streets while others are starving as they are trapped indoors. To help in the efforts to rescue these animals, I created this piece called “Love ‘Em, Don’t Leave ‘Em”. From now until August, I will be donating 100% of the profits from this piece to Humane Society International. This organization is working all over the world to rescue these neglected pets and care for them during these difficult times.

Stickers and pins are a great way to help out without having to spend a lot! They are both less than $5 and the money earned goes to a great cause!! Every little bit helps! If you’re strapped for cash, liking and sharing this post is a huge help as well. Let’s get as many people to see this as possible! Thank you so much for your help!

Stay safe, free spirits!

Help Save Australian Wildlife

It is devastating the harm that the recent fires in Australia have caused. The fires started in November of 2019 due to extreme drought and record breaking heat waves. Over 100 fires are still active today all around the country, causing more threat to everyone around. So far, over 7 million acres have gone up in flames and with it an estimated 500 million animals. Many organisations are working tirelessly to rescue and treat as many animals as they can.

Wildlife conservation and animal welfare are two topics I am very passionate about. It has been my dream to reach the point with my artwork that I could make a difference when help is needed. That’s why I am excited to reveal my latest piece I have been working on in honor of Australia’s wildlife.

I put a lot of heART into this piece and I am so pleased with how it turned out! It is now available in my shops at Redbubble, TeePublic and soon Society6.

((*Update* Edited – 4.1.2020*)) The first two months this piece was posted, I donated 100% of the profits to WIRED Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation. With the help of other wildlife lovers, we raised enough to make a great donation! To keep the drive going to protect Australia’s wildlife no matter what issues they face, I will continue to collect 25% of all profits from this piece and make another donation at the end of the year.Β ))

Help me raise money to further protect the Australian wildlife! Animal Activism through Art! I cannot wait to start making a difference by combining my greatest passions, art and animals! Thank you for stopping by today! Please share and get the word out!

Gentle Giraffes

BW Giraffe

I have completed the ink for my latest totem animal piece. I have been wanting to create a giraffe piece for quite some time now. I drew one in high school in green colored pencil and eventually lost it. Ever since then I’ve wanted to bring it back to my collection. They are beautiful creatures with a unique pattern. It’s like Mother Earth has given them their own tangle to display proudly. It made my job simple. I completed this piece quickly and I am happy with the results. It is a gentle piece for a gentle giant.

There are four species of giraffe with five subspecies. They can only be found in Africa and are the tallest mammals in the world. They can reach heights of up to 19 ft.! The females give birth standing up, which gives their offspring about a five foot drop and a rude awakening!

Giraffes can survive with only 5-20 minutes of sleep a day and need only to drink water every few days. A lot of their hydration comes from the leaves they eat on the top of trees, high out of reach of other animals. Their tongues are about 21 inches long to give them even more of a reach!

Unfortunately, in 2016 the giraffe was moved on the IUCN red list to “vulnerable” which means they are at high risk of extinction. This is mainly due to poaching and habit loss. Within the last 30 years, their population has decreased by 40%! It is heart-breaking to see another fascinatingly unique creature slowly dwindle away. How many more must we lose before the world realizes we must respect wildlife and learn to coexist.

There are organizations working to help giraffes and conserve their existence. Below is a list of websites that can get you started if you would like to learn more. Thanks for stopping by this week. I hope you enjoyed my latest totem piece and learned something new about giraffes. Check back next Monday to learn the symbolism behind giraffe and see the completed piece in color.

Until next time,

“I stick my neck out for nobody.”
